Here's Why Inbox Zero Will Never Work For You
For years, I've marveled at co-workers' inboxes. Some, like me, make a conscious effort to limit the number of unread emails (even if we don't always reply to everyone) while others are perfectly happy to let thousands of messages pile up - and simply ignore them.

"Personally, I can't handle the thought of having more than 20 unread messages in my inbox. If my email count surpasses this magic number, I need to take immediate action or else deal with mounting anxiety that prevents me from doing my actual job or enjoying a vacation.
Having a relatively clear inbox is my online equivalent to tidying my desk. Ah, peace..."

B2B Marketing Best Practices: Creating Engaging Surveys
Surveys are a powerful tool for transforming business practices to better satisfy both clients and coworkers. For a B2B organization, surveys can be used for a variety of purposes and provide insight on customer satisfaction, market research, product feedback and company culture.

"However, creating an engaging survey with a high completion rate can be challenging. To navigate this challenge, we share our best practices for creating surveys to achieve clear and informative results.
Before Creation: Define Objectives
Before creating a survey, it is crucial to set an objective. What is the purpose and goal of your survey? Having a clearly defined objective will streamline the process of crafting questions..."

What Does Successful B2B Marketing Look Like In A Recession?
For quite some time, B2B marketing has been focused on bottom-of-the-funnel tactics: using lead generation to in-market buyers. In a climate where leads are relatively plentiful, this is OK. But in recent months, we've seen a shift

"While we're limited to anecdotal observations for now, the B2B marketing pendulum does appear to be swinging back towards brand development.
Some already brand-focused businesses will simply be continuing with their strategies and trying not to gloat. For others, the driving force for changing tack is the spectre of immediate leads drying up. For a significant number of businesses, the bottom of the funnel has literally been removed.
Either way, it's a healthy reset: 'brand' is the new lead gen..."

Which Sales Methodology?
I've gone through training in countless sales methodologies. Our own company has developed and implemented sales methodologies used by thousands of sales people-though all of our work is customized to the strategies, priorities, culture/values of the organizations we work with

"Today, I read an article that was a high level assessment of 21 sales methodologies. I admire the author in taking the time. Several things struck me:
1. The approach for most of these, regardless of how politely the suppliers phrase them, tends to be: 'Here are the things we do to the customer..' They focused on our selling activities and less on the customer buying process. Wouldn't we and our customers be better served if we started training people in how customers buy, and how sales can support, simplify, and accelerate the buying process?..."

The pandemic has unearthed new markets for almost every industry that are just waiting to be tapped

This is where fracking comes in.
If you're wondering what fracking has to do with increasing your mid-pandemic sales, don't worry, we'll (hydraulically) break it down for you in three easy steps, so you can mine your sales pipeline for all it's worth..."

5 Business Development Metrics To Help You Fill Your Pipeline
Business development teams have become a central part of the sales process

"Business development is highly influential to what happens at the top of your sales funnel. The correspondence between business development reps (BDRs) and leads can set the tone for the entire sales process.
This is where business development metrics play a vital role. They need to measured and assessed to ensure your business development reps are doing everything they can to set meetings with qualified leads. At first it may be difficult for managers to identify and track the right metrics.
Let's take a look at some of the important aspects of business development and the metrics that help you determine the effectiveness of your business development program..."

Attributes Of A Successful Sales Negotiator
The thought for this post originated from my recent interview by Paul Watts of Sales Reinvented

"Paul asked great questions about how sales reps can improve their negotiations with prospects and customers. This was a very timely topic given the recent changes, in the way sales reps communicate with their prospects and customers. You can listen to the entire podcast here.
Why do so many salespeople and managers struggle with negotiation issues? The primary reason is that negotiation is often viewed as an adversarial process by parties on each side trying to get the upper hand. Most sales professionals want to be liked by their customers. They want to please them. However, to some, negotiations feel like they're putting that relationship on shaky ground.
To address this issue, sales professionals should view a negotiation as a process to achieve a result versus giving it a negative or adversarial connotation. This shift in mindset alone can change the process for the better and help you become more successful..."

Redefining Sales Teams: How To Embrace Your Inner Digital Warrior
Exploring how sales teams can harness data to turn insights into engagement and drive online sales.

"We're entering a new era of B2B sales. Driven by a combination of changing buyer habits, economic disruption and necessity brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, sales teams are having to reinvent themselves - and quickly.
Although many things have changed in recent months, arguably the biggest hurdle to have come out of the forced changes to the way sellers work is the loss of the in-person interactions they have long relied on to build connections with customers and drive sales. The regular face-to-face catchups with long-term customers and opportunities to meet new prospects at conferences are gone, highlighting a clear and urgent need for sales teams to adapt to a digital-first environment..."

Launch Of Sales Community Envisioned To Provide Much-Needed Resource For Tech Sales Professionals
Crises, such as the current pandemic, are difficult times, but they can also be catalysts for innovative new ideas

"It was during the COVID-19 disruption that Randy Seidl (pictured), an experienced tech sales professional, conceived a plan to create a community of like-minded thought leaders who could help his profession. That insight led to the launch of Sales Community LLC in September.
'If you think of any other industry - restaurant, hotel, lawyers, landscape - they have user groups,' said Seidl, founder of Sales Community. 'Even technology companies have user groups. But within the larger field of technology sales enterprise, there's really nothing like this that exists. It's crazy.'
Seidl spoke with Dave Vellante, host of SiliconANGLE Media's livestreaming video studio theCUBE. They discussed Seidl's research in determining whether his new organization would have value and the various resources that Sales Community will provide..."

How To Crush Sales Connect Calls To Gain New Customers
Have you ever met someone for the first time and they overshared personal information about their lives? If so, you probably know that it can be a little uncomfortable and perhaps overwhelming

"That's the way a sales call can feel to an unsuspecting prospect the first time when you offer them too much information and try to pitch them right away.
This is why sales connect calls are important. They give you the opportunity to learn more about your prospect while still offering them help and value one step at a time.
Let's explore how to conduct sales connect calls using these tips, templates, and examples..."

What Do You Think About The Concept Of Being A Continual Learner?
What Do You Think about the concept of being a continual learner? That the more you know, the more there is left to learn? You've obtained degrees, certifications, licenses, etc, so does that mean you're done learning? Hopefully not!

"Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom - Aristotle"
"Often we need to keep our technical and professional skills up to date, but what about our 'people' skills and even understanding our current passion and desires?
Do you devote time for increasing your awareness levels? Is self-development something you enjoy doing? What about being committed to better understanding and communicating with others and helping others do the same?
PeopleTek has created a LEADERSHIP COMPASS which is a combination of leadership skills, traits, behaviors, and talents, along with concepts from the Johari Window to help individuals better understand themselves and relationships with others..."

Who Knew That Coffee Could Do This?
My absolute favorite way to start my day is to take a walk around my neighborhood with a cup of my favorite Starbucks beverage listening to a podcast that inspires me. A grande nonfat latte with cinnamon on top just puts a smile on my face and gives me the fuel to kick-off my day.

"On a typical day, you would frequently find me working out of my local Starbucks several days a week after I drop my boys at school. I love being able to work from home as an entrepreneur, but I do crave the human connection and love the energy associated with being around people. I have met so many great people sitting in that coffee shop and we have come to know each other casually over the past year.
When my local Starbucks had to close due to COVID19 as we drifted into quarantine mode, I missed that human connection that had become a part of each morning. I am definitely feeling something missing in my daily routine and have no idea when I can get that routine back on track..."
