5 Tips To Thwart Business Email Compromise (BEC) Attacks
There's been an astounding 84% increase in business email compromise (BEC) attacks, according to the latest NordLocker Email Threat Report, which compared half-yearly statistics.
The news should be particularly alarming to organizations that use email services as their main means of internal communication or correspondence with their partners and clients.

'Today, cybercriminals use highly sophisticated strategies to trick their victims into revealing sensitive information, sending money, or even giving access to their employer's computer systems,' said Oliver Noble, a cybersecurity expert at NordLocker, an encrypted cloud storage service provider. 'One of the most dangerous cybersecurity threats to a business is social engineering, which occurs when hackers exploit human psychology to gain benefit. Unfortunately, human error remains the most common reason for cybersecurity breaches.'

Email Security Threats Are On The Rise Once More - Are You Protected?
Phishing and malware distribution on the rise, Trend Micro warns
The number of security threats coming through email is growing once again, according to new research from Trend Micro.

The company's latest report, based on data from products that supplement native protection along with platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, says more than 33.6 million blocked cloud email threats were blocked in 2021 - a 101% increase compared to the previous year.

Last year, the biggest surge was observed for emails carrying previously unidentified malware - 221%. Among known malware, email security services blocked 3.3 million malicious files, 134% more compared to 2020. For phishing, 16.5 million attacks were blocked, representing a 138% increase year-on-year. Credential phishing attacks rose 15%, to 6.3 million instances.

Gartner Says Marketing Leaders Must Reconceive Their Digital Experience And Sales Enablement To Help Virtual Buying Groups Reach Better Outcomes
Survey Finds 72% of B2B Buyers Have Completed a Significant Transaction Through Digital Commerce
Nearly three out of four B2B buyers (72%) reported completing a recent significant purchase by ordering and paying online, according to Gartner, Inc. A Gartner survey of 725 B2B buyers from November through December 2021 found that buyers use digital commerce to address complex, new problems and ongoing operational issues, not just product replacements or upgrades. Overall, 83% of B2B buyers say they prefer ordering or paying through digital commerce.

B2B buyers' appetite for digital commerce often exceeds their ability to make successful purchases online. Compared to traditional buyers, digital commerce buyers are significantly more likely to experience purchase regret. Customers' embrace of virtual buying has come at the expense of productive decision making and deal quality.

The 10-Point Strategy For Leading Sales Teams In A Recession
In my newsletter several weeks ago, I hypothesized that we may experience a recession. It is our job as leaders and sales professionals to prepare for such an eventuality. You don't want to be caught off guard and find yourself in the dangerous place of being reactive.
Well, it looks like the likelihood of a recession is a lot higher.

According to the Financial Times, the UK economy shrank in March by 0.1%. Stagflation looms, which can cause even more anxiety. US inflation remains at a 40-year high of 8.3% consumer price index (CPI) increase in April. Not necessarily a marker of a recession - but a strong indicator of potentially weaker consumer spending in the future which can lead to a recession.

So, what to do? 10 key points for sales leaders

What I share with you below is a distillation of incredible advice from sales leaders and professionals, as well as my own experiences. All the advice has come from people who have successfully grown during recessions. Whether you are a sales leader, company founder, or sales professional, you can apply these points to your advantage to set yourself up for growth in a recession.

Gartner Sales Survey Finds 83% Of B2B Buyers Prefer Ordering Or Paying Through Digital Commerce
CSOs Must Rethink Approach to Managing Both Digital Commerce and Sales Interactions to Improve Deal Quality, Reduce Buyer's Remorse and Drive Unexpectedly Ambitious Purchases
Eighty-three percent of B2B buyers say they prefer ordering or paying through digital commerce, according to Gartner, Inc. A Gartner survey of 725 B2B buyers from November through December 2021 found that digital commerce has rapidly become the norm and the preferred way to complete B2B purchases.

Currently, the two levers available to commercial organizations - digital commerce and sales rep interactions - are failing B2B buyers and eroding commercial value. Compared to traditional buyers, digital commerce buyers are significantly more likely to experience purchase regret. When buyers report their purchase process was primarily led by sales reps (as opposed to self-navigated), they make lower-quality purchase decisions. Only 24% of B2B buyers in primarily sales rep-led purchases completed a high-quality deal, versus 65% of B2B buyers who self-navigated the purchase process.

Is The Sales Tech Party Over?
It wasn't supposed to be like this. Early in 2021 the media was filled with talk that we would see a return to the Roaring Twenties, those golden years of economic prosperity before the first great Wall Street crash in 1929.
And while socially, the episodic nature of COVID-19 may have slowed our roll back to the good times somewhat, tech investment certainly came roaring back. In fact, it was more like a tsunami of investment as VCs and private equity surfed a wave of available capital and low interest rates to drive record levels of funding and valuations. In 2021, US$630 billion of investment piled into VC-backed companies, double the amount in 2020. Sales tech got in on the good times as well, as investment rose dramatically from US$1.8 billion in 2020 to over US$4.3 billion in 2021 with over US$3.7 billion of that amount going to late-stage funding rounds (Source: Venture Scanner - data accessed on June 17, 2022).

Why Sales Organizations Are Leveraging Sales Automation Software
As part of Solutions Review's Premium Content Series-a collection of contributed columns written by industry experts in maturing software categories-Jay McGrath, the Chief Revenue Officer at Tonkean, shares insights on the value sales automation software provides Revenue Operations (RevOps) teams.
Every sales organization is looking for a way to get ahead. Strategies to help personnel operate more efficiently. Tools that might help them close more deals faster. This drive-combined with an increasing appreciation for the practical importance of well-tuned internal operations-has led to the rise of Revenue Operations, or, RevOps. RevOps is a business function charged with maximizing an organization's revenue-generating potential. It is characterized by the alignment and integration of all departments involved in the typical customer lifecycle-pre and post-sale-from Marketing to Sales to Customer Success.
